San Diego Comic-Con Toy News

Toy announcements & showing ran rampant at the rescent 1999 San Diego Comic-Con. Some of the lines shown for the first time included Mad Max, The Matrix (WB), MC2, Famous Covers: X-Men2 (Toy Biz), Street Fighter (Resaurus), Astro City (Toy Vault) & more. Other companies like McFarlane Toys had major announcements like the production of figures based on such rock stars as Jimmy Hendrix. Spawn HBO Animation Tapped for 2nd Emmy Nomination. HBO and McFarlane Productions seem to have a good Spawn thing going. It won an Emmy in 1998. The 3rd season started August 24, 1999 ~ October 99

Beatles 2-Packs Confirmed!

Each 7" Beatles Yellow Submarine figure will come with a second themed item. One will be a limited run second figure. John comes with Jeremy the Nowhere Man. Paul is packed with the pointing Glove and "Love" base. The regular George is paired with a Yellow Submarine, while a special limited edition George features a second 8" figure of Old Fred "Captain" which can only be found in the first shipment packaging. Ringo with the Blue Meanie will be standard in all assortments. ~ October 99

Trendmasters land Cartoon Networks Master Toy License.

Trendmasters land Cartoon Networks Master Toy License. The St. Louis-based toymaker has been awarded the master licenses for new strips, including The Powerpuff Girls, Dexters Laborator and Cow & Chicken along with rights for such classic characters as the Yogi Bear and Snagglepuss gangs. The multi-year deal includes figures, watches, plush, gift box collectibles, and other items. ~ September 99

New properties on Fox Family Network

New properties on Fox Family Network. Several new programs on Fox are expected to result in action figures and other toy lines. NASCAR superchargers has already been picked up by Hasbro. Totally new are Angela Anaconda, Weird-Ohs, The Kids from Room 402 and The Spy Dogs. Returning properties include and all-new Captain Kangaroo and a new Addams Family series. ~ September 99
